Madge D'Lugos

Madge S. D'Lugos passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2012 at a local nursing home with her loving husband at her side. She was born July 2, 1926 in Lyman, MS. Madge's family moved to Pensacola in the early 1930's. Madge attended local schools, graduating from Pensacola High School, Class of 1944. She married her high school sweetheart, Donald A. D'Lugos on November 24, 1945 at St. Stephens Catholic Church. They would have celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary this November. Preceding Mrs. D'Lugos in death were her parents. Robert J. Sanders and Clara Thompson Sanders and brother Robert J. Sanders, JR. She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Donald A. D'Lugos, Daughter Linda D. Hitpas, Destin, FL, Son Michael(Martha) D'Lugos, Ooltewah, TN, Grandaughters, Brittany(Tyler) Yonge, Jacksonville, FL, Allison Hitpas, Destin, FL. Grandsons Clay(Lindsey), Ross(Ashlee) and John David(Becky). Five great grandsons and two great grandaughters Madge suffered a stroke in 1998. We thank all of the caregivers who have helped us over the past fourteen years. We especially thank Donna Wolfenden, Nancy Batt and Dr. Anita Westafer and staff for the excellent care they provided. Madge was a member of the Mother Seton Guild at Sacred Heart Hospital. She volunteered over 5,000 hours as a Pink Lady at the hospital. Madge attended retreats for many years at the Visitation Monastery in Mobile, AL. She was a member of St. Ann's Cathoic Church and a member of the Altar Society. Madge had lived in Gulf Breeze for the past forty years. Prior to moving to Gulf Breeze, she was an original member of St. Thomas More parish in Warrington. A time of visitation will be from 9:00 - 10:00 AM Friday, September 7, 2012 with a Funeral Mass to follow at 10:00 AM at St Ann's Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Little Sisters of the Poor Home for the Aged, Inc; Sacred Heart Heart Residence 1655 McGill Avenue, Mobile, AL 36604 or St Jude's Childrens Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in Madge's name.
