Luther "Junior" Godwin, Jr.

Luther Godwin, Jr., lovingly known as Junior to a host of family and friends, passed away October 22, 2021, at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola, Florida.  He was 77 years old.  Junior was born on May 18, 1944 to the late Luke and Kathleen Godwin.  He was a lover of Country Music and was a great storyteller.  He was a 16-year stroke survivor and met every day as a gift from his Heavenly Father.

Mr. Godwin is survived by his wife and primary caretaker, Gail Bushart Godwin, to whom he was married for 33 years.  He is also survived by children John Godwin, Gene Godwin, Kathy Godwin Briske, Henry Godwin, Annie Gray, and Abigail Malinski along with 15 grandchildren.  His sisters, Marie Nelson and Joyce Phillips also survive.  Mr. Godwin was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Wilbert Godwin and Joseph Godwin and three grandchildren.

Junior served for over 40 years in the waste management industry and was a member of Olive Baptist Church in Pensacola.  As per his wishes, his remains have been donated for anatomical research at the University of South Alabama Medical School.
