Lucille Jowers

Lucille T. Jowers, 91, of Pensacola, FL, peacefully passed away on Friday, April 29, at Baybreeze Nursing Home, Gulf Breeze, FL. She was born on February 23, 1920, in Ashford, AL. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Sgt. William P. Jowers, Jr. She is survived by her only son, Raymond M. Jowers, Sr. (Barbara), and Grandchildren, Kelly Jowers; Raymond M. Jowers, Jr. "Skipp" (Christina) and their sons, Noah and Isaiah Bobby; Donna Marie Jowers Winchester (Rob) and son, Maddox; Scott Stikeleather (Jayna) and their three daughters, Lexi, Ashlyn, and Addi. She came from a large family of 11 brothers and sisters, only two are still with us; Kathleen Staton of Dothan, AL, and Margaret Dunham of Phenix City, AL. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. Lucille was a loving wife and mother with a very feisty spirit and she could really cook some great fried chicken, pork chops and biscuits!! Visitation will be held Thursday morning, May 5, 2011, 10:30 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home in Gulf Breeze, FL; service officiated by Elder W. R. Nesbitt, III will begin at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery, NAS Pensacola at 1:15 p.m. Pallbearers will be Skipp Jowers, Scott Stikeleather, Rob Winchester, Ron Stebbins, John Robb, and Noah Jowers. The family would like to express sincere appreciation to Dr. Anita Westafer; ARNP Jan Pettigrew; caregiver, Myrtle Pugh, for many years of very special loving care, and to the staff of Baybreeze Nursing Home for the loving care they have extended to Momma Lucille for the past several years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
