Louise Walker Nolan, age 72, of Gulf Breeze, was called home on March 19, 2021. She was born October 6, 1948, in Honolulu, Hawaii to the late Hugh and Clara Walker. Louise was an alumnus of Escambia High School, class of 1966, Pensacola Junior College, class of 1968, and the University of West Florida, class of 1972. There she achieved a B.A. in Elementary Education with a minor in Early Children. Subsequently, Louise served as a kindergarten teacher for over 30 years, during which she positively impacted the lives of countless children.
Louise met her husband, Russell Nolan while participating in a sailing event. She became his first mate, cherished wife, and reliable crewmember for approximately 37 years. They were married on the front steps of the Pensacola Yacht Club where they enjoyed many activities with fellow members and friends. Her other hobbies included gardening tropical plants, photography, hunting the best deals at thrift stores, and loving on her dogs and cats.
Louise is preceded in death by her parents. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Russell Nolan in Gulf Breeze; brother-in-law, Davis (Ayumi) Nolan; niece, Amanda Nolan, all residing in Nashville, Tennessee; and a host of fellow sailors and close friends.
Visitation will be from 10:30 am until the Mass of Christian Burial begins at 11:00 am, Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at St. Ann Catholic Church, 100 Daniel Drive, Gulf Breeze, Florida 32562. Committal will begin with a funeral cortege line-up at 2:00 pm, Thursday, April 8, 2021, at Olive Baptist Church-Warrington Campus, 103 W. Winthrop Ave., Pensacola, Florida 32507. The committal service will follow at 2:30 pm, at Barrancas National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Louise’s memory may be made to the ASPCA, at aspca.org/donate.
