Lorraine Gee

Lorraine Prudence Van Gee, 87, of Cantonment, passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2013 in Pensacola, Florida. Lorraine was born on May 5, 1925 in Bristol, New York. After high school she worked at Kodak in Rochester, New York. On March 30th, 1944 she married Richard Milton Van Gee. Lorraine worked for five years at Fernandes Supermarket headquarters in Norwood, Massachusetts. She was also an active member of the St. John's Episcopal Church in Taunton, Massachusetts. Her husband Richard was a 21 year veteran of the US Coast Guard which meant Lorraine and their children faithfully supported Richard wherever he was stationed, including a stint as lighthouse keepers for the Presque Isle Lighthouse in Erie, Pennsylvania. Lorraine loved her cats, houseplants and keeping in touch with friends that she met over the years. Lorraine is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Ada and her son, James, a talented musician from San Antonio, Texas. Lorraine is survived by her husband of sixty-eight years, Richard, her daughter Claudia, her daughter-in-law Jean, her granddaughters Jessica and Jill and her great granddaughter Eliza Lorraine, as well as her rescued cat, Essie. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Pacifica Senior Living Creekside for their support during her final days. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, PO Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011. Memorial Services will be held on February 15th, 2013 at 10:30 at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. Interment will follow at the Barrancas National Cemetery at 1:15 p.m.
