Lillian Cahoon

Lillian Irene Cahoon 1912 - 2009 Lillian Irene Cahoon, 97, of Gulf Breeze passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2009. She was a native of Lake, MS., born April 13, 1912 & has been a resident of Pensacola since 1947 and Gulf Breeze since 2007. Lillian was preceded in death by her father Isaac Gould & mother Victoria Lee Gould Kennedy, husband Lonnie E. Cahoon, Sr., sisters Mabel Sherman, Sarah F. Fitzgerald, & Jimmy Sellers, brother Billy W. Kennedy, son-in-law John O. Barnthouse, Sr., grand-child Rebecca L. Archer & great grand-children John O. Barnthouse III & Melissa A. Barnthouse. Survivors include her children: Billie L. Barnthouse, Lonnie E. Cahoon, Jr. (Yvonne), Sarah N. Schafer (Michael), N. Sue Smith & Carolyn C. Archer (Bruce). She also leaves 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, & 24 great-great-grandchildren. Lillian was a member of Warrington Baptist Church & later of Olive Baptist Church. She was active in many organizations: Order of Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile, Scottish Rite Ladies, Zelica Caldron Rebekahs, Rainbow Girls, Girl Scouts, & Pensacola Women's Club. Visitation will be held at Rose Lawn Funeral Home (Gulf Breeze) from 2:00 - 4:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 8, 2009. Funeral services will be held at Rose Lawn Funeral Home (Gulf Breeze) on Monday, November 9, 2009, at 10:00 A.M. with the Reverend Eugene Steel officiating , assisted by Reverend Sherry Smith. Internment will follow at Pensacola Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be grand-sons Michael E. Barnthouse, David A. Barnthouse, Lonnie E. Cahoon III, Jodie E. Cahoon & grand-son-in-laws Gary Guenther and Gary Gresham. The family wishes to express its gratitude to the staff of The Villas and Bay Breeze for the kind and loving care provided for Lillian. In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial donations be made to Covenant Hospice of Pensacola.
