Lawrence Gerlits

Lawrence E. "Larry" Gerlits Jr. age 76, a resident of Gulf Breeze, FL died March 1, 2019 at his home.
Born February 4th, 1943 in Iowa City, IA the son of Lawrence and Jean (Niner) Gerlits.
He grew up in Iowa City as the oldest of 12 children. Larry proudly served his country out of high school in the US Navy for 10 years during the Vietnam War. In 1967 Larry married Mary Ann Martzen in Waymart PA. They had one child Daniel Gerlits in 1968. Larry went to work for Morrison Cafeteria in Mobile, AL in 1969 and retired in 1996 three years after Mary Ann passed away in 1993. Larry remarried in 1996 to Faye Cruit Colquett of Mobile, AL and they moved to Navarre Beach, FL. In 1999 Faye and Larry moved to Gulf Breeze, FL. Larry loved being around his 3 grandchildren, playing golf, doing crossword puzzles and reading books.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father Jean and Lawrence, his 3 brothers Dale, George and Jim Gerlits
Larry is survived by his wife Faye Gerlits; his son Daniel Gerlits (Cherie) ; three grandchildren Connor, Caroline and Cate Gerlits; 1 step son Andrew Colquett (Annie); a sister Susan Gerlits, and 7 brothers Robert, Mike, Tim, Vincent, Francis Jeff and Pat.
Memorial Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to a favorite charity.
Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 Saturday March 9th, 2019 at Saint Sylvester Catholic Church 6484 Gulf Breeze, FL 32563.
