Laura "Lori" Broadhurst

Laura Marie Broadhurst, age 52, passed away on December 22, 2023 at her home in Gulf Breeze, Florida.

Laura was born on July 7, 1972 in Buffalo, NY to David and Margie Purkerson. She grew up in Herndon, Virginia. After graduating from Herndon High School, she attended Virginia Commonwealth University and received a BS in International Business. She then attended the University of Miami and received a master’s degree in international relations.

Laura is survived by her loving mother, Margie Purkerson, her three sons, Devin Broadhurst, Dakota, Chloe, and Laura’s granddaughter, Sunny, her sister Jennifer Kirk and her husband, Dave Kirk, and their children, Amber and Ash Kirk, and her brother, Christopher Purkerson, and his wife Erin Purkerson.

Laura was an advocate against gun violence and led volunteers for Moms Against Gun Violence in the Florida Panhandle.

A loving and caring individual, Laura will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She leaves behind cherished memories and a legacy of kindness. Her presence will be forever in the hearts of those who knew her and loved her.

The family will hold a memorial service to honor Laura and her deceased son, David Broadhurst, on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at 11am at the Pensacola Beach Pier, where their ashes will be scattered into the beautiful gulf to celebrate their lives.
