Kyle Williams

Kyle Turner Williams, age 50, died on Sunday morning, January 10. Mr. Williams, for most of his adult life, was involved in Thoroughbred racing and breeding. A gradute of Bonnabel High School, he also attended Louisiana State University for two years. After a four-year stint in the U.S. Navy, Mr. Williams began his racing career in 1985 with the Daily Racing Form at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California. The next year he was hired as Editor for the Louisiana Horse Magazine and was instrumental in steering that magazine to a prominent position in the industry. After ten years he accepted a similar position with the Backstretch Magazine. In 2001, Mr. Williams joined the publicity staff of the Fair Grounds Racetrack but in 2002 became editor of the Washington Horse Magazine. Mr. Williams had been living in Pensacola, Florida since November 2008. His mother, Martha T. Williams, and father, Claude P. Williams, survive Mr. Williams. Other survivors include a daughter, Cristina Williams; a daughter Alexis Morrison; a sister, Kelly Michelle Odom, and a brother Ryan Keith Williams. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 16 at the First Presbyterian Church, 409 W. Charles Street, Hammond, Louisinana. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Waterfront Mission, P.O. Box 870, Pensacola, Fl. 32591.
