Karen Kambon

November 9, 1970 — May 21, 2023

Karen Payne Kambon, 52, of Gulf Breeze, FL passed away Sunday morning, May 21,
2023. An Alabama native, Karen was born November 9,1970, with the strength of a true
Southern belle. She was strong as nails, facing many battles alone, doing everything she
could to make sure those she cared for didn’t suffer the same. She had an unshakeable
belief that there was a right and wrong way to do things. A mother, instilling the skills
to ensure her children become well-adjusted adults in this world, she was always kind
and compassionate, with a heart made of solid gold. She wasn’t a sweet talker, but
always gave things to you straight. You might not realize it at the time, but would later
appreciate her sharp tongue and brutal honesty. She was the most loyal friend anyone
could ask for. She had a way of making things so much clearer for those around her,
opening up even the most closed off person. Smart, stubborn, and independent, she
was also always sincere, but never take advantage of her kindness or she’ll drop you
like a hot potato. Committed to caring for her mother in her final years, she loved hard
and relentless. She was a devout wife, her sacred marital vows second to none.
Although she was like the sun, absolutely capable of shining alone, she loved being
loved and to have her love, devotion and adoration was a gift, a true blessing from God.
Her faith and closeness with Him anchored her and gave her hope of a brighter day.
A graduate of Montevallo High School (Montevallo, AL) and UCLA, she was a
profound and accomplished medical professional noted for her diligence and no-nonsense
approach to caring for her patients. She made an impression on everyone
who had the honor of knowing and loving her and so she will profoundly and
unequivocally be missed.
Karen is preceded in death by her Father, Richard Harvel Payne, and Mother, Bobbie
Jean Payne.
Surviving are, her Husband, Camara Kambon, Daughter, Brooke Lunsford Jones, Son,
Brett Lunsford, four grandchildren and an important member of our family, Ruth
