June Kipe Parker was born on June 1, 1934 in her Grandparents home on Myrtle Ave. in Plainfield, N.J. She was the second child of three born to Horace and Betty Kipe. Her older sister was Betty Lou and her younger brother is Spencer.
June’s earliest memories come from the time her loving Christian family lived on the corner of Westervelt Drive and Fairview Ave. in North Plainfield. There she played outside and in with many dear neighborhood friends and of course her siblings. When June was 10 her family moved to the country in Watchung N.J. She loved the move most because she got her own room! June loved school, has kept in touch with many High School (and earlier) friends and in fact until recently met each year in NJ for reunions with these friends. June went to Winston Salem college after graduating high school which is the school that her sister was attending. After two years of college she married the love of her life, Donald Parker, on June 26, 1954. Don promised June’s parents (and his parents) that he would make sure June finished her college education which she did getting a BA in history from Rutgers University with high honors. She also took night classes and got a teaching certificate from Kean College in NJ. During this time, she was also busy raising four boys. Actually, she had five boys but one brother passed one day after being born. She was a great role model for her boys and she always was willing to let them spread their wings (within reason). All four boys grew up in the country, farming and learning what hard work and hard play was all about.
