Joyce Michael

Joyce Elaine Michael, 67, of Navarre, FL died May 16, 2011 in Gainesville, FL after a courageous battle with brain cancer. She was born November 13, 1943 in Mobile, AL to Marvin Ernest Brooks and Edith Turner Brooks. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Thomas C. Michael. A devoted mother and homemaker, Joyce enjoyed gardening, painting and exploring the wonders of nature. Joyce is survived by her daughters, Gwendolyn (Jimmie) Black of Gulf Breeze and Michelle Mattheisen of Navarre; granddaughter, Amanda Adams of Navarre; grandsons, Jordan Black, Christopher Black and Gabriel Black of Gulf Breeze; granddaughter, Sydney Mattheisen; great granddaughter , Gavriella Gutierrez; sister, Shirley (Royce) Stanford of Mobile, AL. The family will receive friends for visitation Sunday, May 21, 2011 from 5-7:00pm at Rose Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place 11:00am Monday, May 22, 2011 at Rose Lawn Funeral Home with Pastor Brad Lewis of Grace Church officiating. Interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 5401 Corporate Woods Dr # 100, Pensacola, FL 32504.
