Gulf Breeze

It is with great sadness that we announce Joyce Ann Darcangelo peacefully passed away on June 15th, 2020. Joyce was a loving wife, daughter, sister, and aunt.

Joyce was born the second oldest of four children to Woodrow and Marjorie Saunders in Springfield Ohio on September 26th, 1941. As a young woman, Joyce’s talent for music and performance was showcased as she and her sister Janice performed regularly on the Gene Carroll show in Cleveland Ohio. Later, she moved to Memphis with her sister Janice and had the opportunity to sing back up for some of the most popular music artists of the era. She then returned to Ohio where she served in the state’s office.

Having met her future husband Terry in Ohio they moved to Gulf Breeze Florida where they were married. Together, the two of them opened a Stanley Steemer franchise. With Joyce running the office and Terry running the trucks, they built the business from the ground up. Starting with one truck running out of their garage, to building one of the largest and most successful franchises in the region. As a successful female entrepreneur, she inspired many to achieve success and became a mentor to the women who worked for the business.

Joyce had a strong sense of community and participated in many area events. Among her accomplishments, was a first-place ribbon in the ACS New Bridge Run. Her and Terry were also passionate about supporting local businesses. Joyce loves the McGuire’s family of restaurants.

Joyce’s faith in the Lord was evident to everyone who knew her. She often served in the church and generously donated to local and international charities. Her favorite scripture was Psalms 91 “1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”

To say Joyce Ann Darcangelo was generous would be an understatement. She would give you the shirt off her back and buy you ten more. Her zest for life and adventurous spirit, was evident to all who knew her. Her infectious laughter filled the room and even strangers felt at home in her presence. While our hearts are broken, our solace is that she is now with her Lord and rejoicing at the feet of Jesus.

Joyce is survived by Her devoted Husband Terry Darcangelo, her siblings, Janice Wood, Karen Porter, Rick Saunders, their children and grandchildren.
