Joseph Ellingson

Joseph Curtis "Joe" Ellingson, 59, lost his courageous battle with cancer and died peacefully at home, surrounded by family on Sunday, September 21, 2008. Joe was born and raised in Pensacola, Florida. He was a Foreign Service Specialist with the U. S. Department of State, serving in Embassies and Consulates in St. Petersburg, Russia; Moscow, Russia; Brasilia, Brazil; Rangoon, Burma; Monrovia, Liberia; Colombo, Sri Lanka; Manama, Bahrain; Shenyang, China. Prior to joining the State Department, Joe worked for ten years in power plant operations in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Through Joe's kindness, generosity, and strong work ethic, he helped countless people and touched so many lives around the world in many positive ways. It has been an honor and a privilege to have had him in our lives. He is greatly missed. Joe is survived by his wife of 36 years, Tina Jo Ellingson; daughters, Jessica R. Ellingson and Jamille L. Ellingson; son Kyle Joseph Ellingson; granddaughter, Morgan Rayne; grandsons, Aidan Joseph and Logan Connor; sisters, Nancy Norris and Gail Ellingson; brother, Thomas Ellingson. He is also survived by his beloved mother-in-law, Marcy Henderson; beloved sisters-in-law, Terry Covington and Lesia Stuckey; beloved nieces, Michelle Stuckey and Sarah Covington. The family wishes to thank the kind staff of the Bay Breeze Skilled Nursing Facility in Gulf Breeze who helped Joe during his rehab as well as the kind staff of Emerald Coast Hospice. The family will hold a small celebration of Joe's life on Pensacola Beach. Condolences may be sent to the Rose Lawn Funeral Home in Gulf Breeze, Florida. At Joe's request, in lieu of flowers, please make contributions to your own good life.
