John R. Henry

John Richard Henry passed unexpectedly from this life on 31 December 2024 at age 58. He is survived by his wife, Regina Begley Henry; daughters, Courtney Michele Henry and Mickenzy Henry; and five siblings: Rita Henry Gorman, Mary Ellen Reynolds, William Kenneth Henry, Robert Michael Henry (spouse Lisa) and Frank Sullivan Henry (spouse Michelle) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ellen Murchison Henry and father, Francis Richard Henry.

John was born in Columbus, Georgia on 11 January 1966. However, he grew up in Mississippi. He was most proud of his military service in the US Coast Guard from 1987 to 1997. He was a consummate entrepreneur, and successfully managed several businesses during his life. He had an infectious sense of humor, and a big heart, especially for his brother, Billy. His canine companion, Nugget, he called his “road dog” was dear to him as well. He was witty and intelligent, strong-willed, and stubborn. He could sell you anything. He loved the beach, his dogs’, vacations, swimming, grilling and cooking his famous chili. He also enjoyed collecting hats.

In honor of his wishes, his ashes will be taken home to Mississippi.

 A Celebration of Life will be held at Rose Lawn Funeral Home at 2942 Gulf Breeze Pkwy, Gulf Breeze FL on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 11:00 am. A visitation will be held from 10-11:00 am.  There will be a continuation of the celebration of John's Life at the Grand Marlin, 400 Pensacola Beach Boulevard, Pensacola Beach, FL 32561 at 12:30 pm  and the family invites everyone to join them. 

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the St Jude Children Research Hospital.
