On Tuesday, June 17th at 12:07pm, our dear mother, wife, grandmother, sister and friend breathed her last breath in a beautiful peaceful manner. We all stood around her bed while we said our last goodbye. Due to total paralysis from the car accident, she felt little pain and for the last few days of her life, we all were given the blessed opportunity to be with her. We were able to talk to her one on one, laugh with her as we reminisced about her cute ways and sang her favorite songs. When she passed away the sky opened and through the large windows of her hospital room, we watched the rain pour and lightning flash as we sang "To Where You Are" (sung by her favorite singer, Josh Groban) played in the background. When that incredibly moving moment passed we broke out in laughter and said that Mom would have been pleased with the dramatic finale. It's as if she orchestrated it herself. Although our hearts are so heavy with grief, it is bearable because we know we'll see her again someday. She was one of those remarkable and graceful people who touched so many lives with her many talents. We were always so proud of her. There will be a memorial service on Sunday, June 22 at 4:00Pm at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Gulf Breeze, Florida. Joan requested that instead of flowers, donations be made to a local charity. Please send donations to Mother's Against Brain Injury website www.mabii.org and be sure to make the donation in the name of Joan Pocreva. This charity was truly a blessing to us while we waited with Mom in the hospital.
