Jessie Mcmillan

Jessie Mae Carraway McMillan, age 85, of Gulf Breeze, was called home July 27, 2021.  She was born at home on July 4, 1936 in Sopchoppy, FL to the late Ausley Burl Carraway and Frances Fay Forbes Carraway.  She graduated from Pensacola Junior College as a Licensed Practical Nurse in her early 50’s and afterwards worked at a nursing home where she retired at age 71.

Jessie took joy in cooking, sewing, gardening, and reading.  She also loved her many sister’s weekends, where there was lots of laughter and catching up.  She was an FSU fan and loved watching all the sports.  Jessie loved spending time with family and playing with her grandchildren.  She was a caring person with a witty sense of humor.  Jessie was an independent person and stayed strong until the day she was called home.

She is preceded in death by her son, Ricky Cameron Smith; siblings, Frances Roberts, Ausley Carraway, Ott Carraway and Brad Carraway.  Those left with fond memories are her children, Rodney (Carolyn) Smith, Randy (Cathy) Smith, and Paul (Mary) Smith; grandchildren, Tara Smith, Alicia Smith, Josh Causey, Nathan (Brittany) Schwartz and Greg (Natalie) Schwartz; four great-grandchildren; siblings, Bettye Roberts, Sandra Crum, Carolyn Suiter, George Carraway, Susie Limbaugh and David Carraway; many nieces and nephews; and a host of extended family and friends.

Visitation will be from 12:00pm, until the funeral service begins at 1:00pm, Friday, August 06, 2021 at Rose Lawn Funeral Home, 2942 Gulf Breeze Parkway, Gulf Breeze, FL 32563.  Interment will follow at Rose Lawn Cemetery, in the Garden of Peace.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Covenant Hospice, 5041 N. 12th Ave., Pensacola, FL 32504.
