Janice Claire Haywood was born in Paterson, NJ on January 22,1950, known to family and friends as Jan, went to be with the lord on Sunday, March 19, 2023, at the age of 73. She peacefully passed away with her husband and children by her side throughout that day. She was a loving wife of 51 years, wonderful mother, and an amazing grandmother to her beloved grandchildren which were her pride and joy.
During her life in Paterson, she attended schools in Ridgewood, NJ and graduated from Ridgewood High School. In 1972 she married the love of her life Robert Haywood. Her and Robert spent 51 years of marriage together and had five beautiful children. Four boys and one girl and so many loved grandchildren. During her years married to Robert and his military career between Hawaii and Texas they had their first two children. After her husband retired from the military they made their way to their forever home in Gulf Breeze, Florida. During her time residing in Gulf Breeze, her remaining three children were born. Furthermore, she worked and started her cleaning business and being a loving mother. She also enjoyed her time singing in the church choir and going to the beach, sewing, arts and crafts and spending time with her family and friends. She was always up for an adventure and was the biggest kid at heart when it came to spending time with her grandchildren.
She was the glue to our family, and she could light up the room with a smile the moment she entered.
Janice was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Wall, Sr; mother, Ruth Wall; brother, Thomas Wall, Jr and granddaughter, Brittany.
Janice is survived by her husband of 51 years, Robert Haywood; daughter, Kimberly Haywood- Shackleford(Calvin); grandsons, Jayden and Gabriel Shackleford; son, Robert Haywood, Jr (Cindy); grandchildren, Keisha and Kent Smelly; son, Walter Haywood (Lara); granddaughter, Destiny Haywood; son, Thomas Haywood (Tracy); grandchildren, Alexis Haywood, Brandon, Nathan, Prince; son, Joseph Haywood (Lacey); grandkids, Lyndon and Liberty Haywood; sister, Ellen Castellano (Danny); and sister, Sandee (Christina, Charlie, Charlotte Riley). Also, many loved extended family members.
Her celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday April 18, 2023, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Gulf Breeze.
