Jane Waters Cooper, 90, of Pensacola Beach, passed away on Tuesday, January 10, in her home with her family present. Born in Dawson, New Mexico, Jane moved to Pensacola Beach during the summer of 1978. She was the owner of "The Islander" newspaper, co-founder of the Krewe of Wrecks and Mardi Gras on the Island, and an original member of the Pensacola Beach Chamber of Commerce. Jane is survived by her husband, Frank Cooper; four daughters and sons-in-law, Jane and Randy Dundas; Candy and Ralph Segar; Shelley and Richard Johnson; Liz and Harry Hewson; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Forever Barefoot on the Beach: A Celebration of Jane's Life will commence at 2 p.m. on Monday, January 16 at Flounder's, 800 Quietwater Beach Road on Pensacola Beach. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to organizations that Jane cherished: Pensacola Beach Elementary School and the Humane Society of Pensacola.
