James Michael “Mike” Peters went home to his Lord and Savior on the morning of April 4, 2024 in Gulf Breeze, Florida at the age of 72. He was born on September 6, 1951 to Marshall and Louise Peters in Wellington, Texas. After High School, Mike moved to Amarillo where he met & married Debbie and started their 50+ year journey together in 1973. Together they raised two girls: Sheila and Denise. During this time, they lived in Texas and Oklahoma and back to Texas before moving to Milton, Florida in 1995 to be near their girls. Here is where he owned and operated M & D Janitorial Service for over 20 years.
Mike was a kind, caring, and hard-working man who gave his all to his family. Never one to meet a stranger – especially if he discovered that they were also from Texas – Mike loved to chat one-on-one with people. He cherished God, his family, his home, his home state of Texas, and his country. In his leisure time you could find him tending to the plants in his yard, spending time with family, repairing things around his house, reading a western novel, listening to country music, or watching the races at the dirt track.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Marshall, and his mother, Louise. He is survived by his wife Debbie, his daughters Sheila Glover (Gary) and Denise Keiley (Gus), Sister Judy Dollar, Nephew Billy Dollar (Dusti), Grandchildren Michael Glover (Rebecca), Brett Waid (Jennifer), Ryan Waid, and Sophia Keiley, and Great Grandchildren Gabriel, Addilyn, Mya, Brooklyn, Reid, Sawyer, Jude, Charlee, Owen, and Noah, as well as several cousins, and his two sweet dogs. Whether he was known to you as Mike or Daddy or PaPa or Snicklefritz, he will be greatly missed. The love he shared continues on through the lives of his loved ones and can be seen in every bluebonnet that blooms, every American or Texas flag flying, every day of honest, hard work, and every beautiful sunrise and sunset giving us the tiniest glimpse into the Heaven in which he resides today.
A Celebration of Mike’s Life will be held Sunday, June 30, 2024 at the Holley By The Sea Recreation Center Beach House at 6845 Navarre Parkway, Navarre, FL 32566 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, please consider giving to these organizations:
