James Lively

With heartfelt sadness we would like to announce that James “Jim” L. Lively, Jr., age 81, of Gulf Breeze, Florida passed away July 18, 2023 at his home in the presence of many family members.  He was born December 10, 1941 in Chamblee, Georgia to the late James Lively, Sr. and the late Ruth Elder Lively. 

Jim worked for Panasonic corporation for over 25 years and after moving his family to Gulf Breeze in 1971, while continuing to work for Panasonic he also opened two restaurants many will remember. Dolphins on the Bay and General Dolphins Chicken were a staple of Gulf Breeze for many years.  After retirement and closing the restaurants, he worked for Gulf Breeze Realty which he then bought and ran for over 20 years.  He always had a passion for youth sports and spent over 20 years as president of the GBSA helping to lay the foundation for what the Gulf Breeze Sports Association would become today.  Jim also worked closely with many in the promotion of youth sports in Pensacola as well in addition to the Pensacola Blue Wahoos in his later years.

He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Stanley L. Lively.  Jim is survived by his wife, Bettie Joyce Lively; son, Robert E. Lively and his wife, Ginny; son, Stephen A. Lively; Grandchildren, Edward Bennet Lively, Emily Brooke Lively, Sydney Marie Lively; sister, Barbara Resmondo; brothers, David Lively and Jerry Lively.

The family is planning a celebration of life and will update accordingly when finalized.
