I.B. Cotton, a Greatest Generation member, went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 7, 2009. I.B. was born on March 26, 1920 in Geneva County, Alabama. He joined the United States Coast Guard in 1940, serving his country during WWII in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theater. I.B. worked civil service for 35 years at Pensacola NAS and retired in 1980. He was a long time member of St. Mark Methodist Church and the Pensacola Beach Community Church. I.B. was a husband, father, and grandfather and was married to Helen Donovan Cotton for 64 years. I.B. is survived by his wife and three children: wife, Helen; son, Tommy (Amanda) Cotton of Fairhope; son, Billy (Debbie) Cotton of Cantonment; and daughter, Debbie (Thomas) Campanella of Pensacola Beach and a sister Laura Jean Cotton Stedman of Auburndale, FL. I.B. had five grandchildren: CiCi (Mike) Dixon; Nate (Cindy) Cotton; Tyler (Rachel) Cotton; Lauren Campanella; Gregory(Melissa) Campanella; and four great grandchildren Will Dixon; Hope Dixon; MacKenzie Cotton and Talon Campanella. Funeral services will be held at Pensacola Beach Community Church Saturday, January 10, 2009, with time of visitation from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM funeral services to follow at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place at Barrancas National Cemetery on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at 2:00 PM. Pallbearers will be Thomas Campanella, Greg Campanella, Nate Cotton, Tyler Cotton, Mike Dixon and Larry Keever. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts to Pensacola Beach Community Church or Pensacola Beach Elementary School.
