Howland Kenneth Ellis 1920 - 2010 Howland Kenneth Ellis passed away on Thursday, September 30, 2010. He was born on February 24, 1920, in Lynn Haven, Florida, and spent the last forty years of his life as a resident of Milton, Florida. He served in the Untied States Navy during World War II and was a Body and Fender Repairman in addition to being an avid oysterman throughout his life. Howland was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Virginia Ellis (Clayville); his sons, Hansel and Elwood Ellis and his daughter, Helen Hollon. He is survived by his brother, Lynn N. Ellis of Southport, Florida, and his sister, Myrtle Swearingen of Panama City, Florida; and seven children: Howland J. Ellis of Franklin, North Carolina, Kenneth C. Ellis of Sonomish, Washington, Stephen W. Ellis of Anacortes, Washington, Howland H. Ellis of Milton, Florida, Virginia D. Teague of Kingston, Tennessee, Selma R. Edwards of Beulah, Florida, and Kina L. Ellis of Milton, Florida. He is also survived by seventeen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Rose Lawn Funeral Home, 2942 Gulf Breeze Parkway, Gulf Breeze, FL, on Monday October 4, 2010, from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Services will begin at 12:00 p.m. and conclude at 12:30 p.m. Mr. Ellis will be buried at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida at 1:15 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to Rose Lawn Funeral Home of Gulf Breeze.
