Harriette Hess

Harriette R. Hess passed away on Nov. 5, 2012 after two weeks at home for hospice. Harriette was born on May 6, 1959 in Memphis, Tenn. and was the daughter of Mary Frances and George Harvey Riser. Harriette attended White Station High School and graduated in 1977. Following graduation, she attended the University of Houston and the University of Memphis. Harriette married Tony Hess in April 1992 living in Memphis and Rogers, Ark. before ultimately relocating to Gulf Breeze, Fla. in 2001. Harriette found her church home at Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church were she volunteered tirelessly for the Children's Ministry annually decorating for Vacation Bible School, Breakfast with Santa, the Christmas Parade float and numerous other events sponsored by the church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Candace and is survived by her two sisters Joyce Fisher and Jeanne Hamilton. She is survived by her husband, Tony Hess, daughters, Christine Hay and Kathrin Hess, and sons Preston Hay, Andy Hess, Matt Riser and Eric Hess. Harriette was a much loved wife, mom and Matriarch of the family. The family has been absolutely overwhelmed by the response of our church and this community. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church on Sunday, Nov. 11 at 2 p.m. The family has requested donations be made in her honor to the American Cancer Society.
