Harold Dean Martin 1933 - 2010 Harold Dean martin was known for living his life with zest and goodwill. He left the earth he tilled and harvested after 76 years of cultivating crops, gardens, and compassion toward his fellow man. Harold was born on April 10, 1933 in Leapwood, TN to the late Frank Martin and Bertie Wilson Martin. He grew up in the Boot Heel of Missouri and moved to Gulf Breeze, FL in 1991. He was preceded in death by his precious daughter Twila Michelle Martin and brother Voyd Martin, and is survived by a brother, Roy (Linda) Martin and a sister, Wanna Mae Weeks. Harold will be forever remembered by his wife of 53 years, Barbara Jean James Martin and their son, Michael Dean Martin and his wife Charla. There are a host of close family and friends who will mourn and miss him as well. Harold never met a stranger, whether at the grocery store, church, in the neighborhood, or the doctors office... he would strike up a conversation with whoever would oblige. People were better off having known him and left him feeling confirmed by his free and easy manner. They also usually left with a new joke and a piece of fruit. He became a farmer by trade and retired from National Safety Association where he excelled in sales. He was a member of various boards and associated with the farming trade. Hunting, gardening, and traveling (both in the US and abroad) were all things that Harold loved to do and there were not enough hours in the day to accommodate his wishes and desires into his calendar. But as long as Barb was by his side, he was a contended man. Belonging to the Lord was something Harold Martin was very proud of. That assurance was one thing that helped him so courageously battle the cancer that eventually took his life. He was an active member of Midway Baptist Church in Midway, FL.
