Gordon Pitman

Gordon A. Pitman, 73, of Pensacola, went to be with the Lord July 27th, 2012. Gordon was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was born on November 18, 1938 to the late Harold Gordon and Martha Helen Pitman. Gordon attended Pensacola High School and enlisted in the Air Force in 1957. He served proudly for four years and has always been a passionate Patriot. He married the love of his life and lifelong best friend, Linda Gail Simmons on November 21, 1959. They were happily married for 52 years. Gordon was a successful insurance salesman for Liberty National Life Insurance for 16 years and was LUTC certified. He also worked for AFLAC for 13 years - 9 holding the position of Regional Manager. Gordon was an avid fisherman and hunter and was interested in hot rods and Nascar. He was an avid reader and loved his church, Coastline Calvary Chapel, where he helped with various volunteer work. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and sister Becky. Survivors include his wife, Gail, daughters Donna Harwood and Vicki Westcott; son Randy Pitman, and spouses Bill, Tom, and Dawn; Grandchildren: Stephanie Register, her husband Michael, Jordan Harwood, Cory Neet, Hunter Harwood, Evan and Carter Pitman, brother Sonny and sister Martha Ann Wiggins. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 on Sunday July 29,2012 at Coastline Calvary Chapel. Visitation will be held from 2-3. The family will lay gardenias in the Gulf along with his ashes. Gordon always put gardenias in his daughters' cars before school and in vases for his wife. His son continues the tradition for his wife now.
