George E. Watson, age 81, of Pensacola, went home to be with his Lord on Monday, June 13, 2011, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Marshall, Texas to Richard Hunter Watson and Ila Knowling Watson. George married the love of his life Beverly Reamer Watson on January 12, 1973 in Pensacola. He was preceded in death by daughter Deborah Watson, son Craig Edwards, brothers, Leonard Watson, Lawrence Watson, and JW Watson and sister Juanita Watson. He is survived by children Chip Edwards, Kellie Dunlop, Victoria (Donald) Roberts, David (Tamara) Edwards, Jennifer Edwards, sister Ila Ruth (AJ) Scardino and brother OB Watson. He also had fourteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild. George, with his wife Beverly, were the owner/operators of the Friendly Plumber for 33 years. A highly respected member of the community, George was a defender of the rights and liberties of Escambia County citizens all of his adult life. He was elected as a Board Member for ECUA District 2 and held this office for six years. The founder of Tax Reform In Motion, George was applauded by many in Florida and other states for his role in efforts to cut wasted tax money. He was also a member of the Ferry Pass Masonic Lodge and a member and past Monarch of the Zelica Grotto. The funeral will be held at Eastern Gate Memorial, June 16, 2011. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 am with services following. The family would like to thank all the nurses and staff at the West Florida Hospital for their generous care of our Father and Papa.
