On December 24, 2009 George W. Proctor, 94, of Gulf Breeze passed away to join the love of his life Marguerite L. Proctor for Christmas. George, one of the first residents of the Blake in Gulf Breeze, is survived by his sons Dave, Bill, Wayne and Jim. He had 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was widowed for 11 years. He was born in New Market, New Hampshire on January 15, 1915. George served his country in WWII as a Navy flight engineer. He moved to Miami, Florida in 1951 were he was a master mechanic for Pan American Airways for over 25 years. He was a friend to everyone he met and never knew a stranger. He was a perpetual caregiver throughout his life touching all those around him. An avid tennis player, he finally walked off the tennis court at the age of 91. His wit and sense of humor kept everyone smiling. Later in life his trademark saying was, "I'm so old I don't buy green bananas." Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at Saint Ann Catholic Church; Visitation will be Tuesday 5 - 7 PM at Rose Lawn Funeral Home In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to Emerald Coast Hospice at 5401 Corporate Woods Drive suite 800 Pensacola, Florida 32501.
