Fredric A. (Rick) Van Dyk, SMSGT, USAF(Ret), 71, of Gulf Breeze, Fl, passed away on August 29, 2015. Born in Pensacola on July 19, 1944 to the late Fritz and Freda Van Dyk, he married Sherry, the love of his life, on July 23, 1962 and proudly served his country from 1962 to 1984. He continued to serve his community after retirement through the Pensacola Beach Elks Lodge beginning in 1990 as well as being a member of the American Legion and the V.F.W. As an avid sportsman he spent his life around sports, including playing, coaching, and watching football, baseball, softball, bowling, and golf. But of most importance to him was his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. In addition to his wife, Sherry, Rick is survived by sisters Paulette (Ronnie) Coleman and Donna Rae (Lonnie) Pugh and brother Pete (Jessie) Van Dyk. He is also survived by his children Allen (Mary) Van Dyk and Lynn (Brian) Feehan, and his four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. The viewing will begin at 10:00AM followed by the funeral service at 11:00AM on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at Rose Lawn Funeral Home in Gulf Breeze. There will be an Elks Memorial Service at the conclusion of the chapel service at Rose Lawn, followed by burial with military honors at Bayview Memorial Park at 3351 Scenic Highway in Pensacola. In lieu of flowers a donation to Covenant Hospice would be appreciated in memory of Rick.
