"Capt" Frank Douglas 1931 - 2011 Frank Douglas of Gulf Breeze passed away Tuesday night, March 8, 2011. Frank was a Korean War Veteran where he was awarded the Bronze Star. Following the war he served 20 years as an Army Special Forces Reservist. Frank was a major contributor for the return of Mardi Gras in this area having been one of a few whose vision and dedication saw the revival of this celebration in downtown Pensacola in 1978. In 1979 he was a co-founder of the Krewe of Wrecks and the expansion of Mardis Gras to Pensacola Beach as was celebrated at Flounders Ale House with a dedication on February 14th this year. He is survived by his wife Carol, son Scott of Gulf Breeze, daughters Lisa Douglas of Gulf Breeze, Kathy Douglas of Pensacola, grandchildren Sam Camariotes, III and Lindsay Camariotes both of Pensacola and Kellie Douglas of Lake City, Florida. Services will be held on Saturday, March 12 at 3:00 pm at Rose Lawn Funeral Home in Gulf Breeze followed by a wake in the Scotch/Irish tradition to be held from 5:00 to 7:00 at Rosie O' Gradies inside Seville Quarter, 130 East Government, Downtown.
