Ethel May Chalmers 1930-2009 Ethel May "Tootsie" Chalmers, 79, formerly of Gulf Breeze, FL died peacefully surrounded by her loved ones in Las Vegas, NV at 5:30 p.m. in the evening, Oct. 25, 2009. May was born in McNary, AZ., on January 29, 1930 to Minnie (Koen) and Maxie Loper and was a resident of Santa Rosa County for over 40 years, where she worked and raised her two children. She is preceded in death by her husband, George Chalmers, a Scottish immigrant and merchant marine who died of cancer in their Gulf Breeze home in 1979. May was a graduate of PJC and retired from the Santa Rosa County School Food Service with many years of service at Pace High School. She always had especially fond memories of "her kids" as they visited her for lunch during each school day. She is survived by her daughter, Wanda (Chalmers) Plunk of Las Vegas, NV; her son, James Chalmers of Milton; her sisters, Alberta "Blondie" Allenbrand of Fort Walton and Sylvia "Baby" Amato of Slidell, LA; her aunt, Betty "Bingo" Amos; and grandchildren, George Plunk, Dylan Chalmers and Cameron Chalmers. Memorial Service will be held Sunday, November 1, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Rose Lawn Funeral Home of Gulf Breeze.
