Elias Roberston, Jr

Elias Richard Robertson, Jr. 1928-2010 Elias Richard "Dick" Robertson, Jr., 82, of Gulf Breeze, FL passed away peacefully early Friday morning, January 22, 2010 at the Haven of Our Lady of Peace in Pensacola, FL. Born in Anniston, AL to the late Elias Richard Robertson, Sr. and Ola McCall Robertson, he was one of 10 children. He spent most of his life in Florida and graduated from Havana High School. He lived in Quincy, then in Pensacola where he pursued his career in the life insurance business. He attained many awards in his field including receiving his CLU designation. He was a Korean War veteran as well as active in the Lions Club, the Masons and the Gadsden Street Methodist Church. In addition, he and his wife, Edwena, oversaw the Edwena J. Robertson building at the Pensacola Interstate Fair each fall; and also earned their Master Gardener's designation together. A devoted husband and father, he is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Edwena J. Robertson. They were truly one in love all those years. He is also survived by sons Richard E. Robertson of Pensacola, FL; William R. Robertson and wife Janie of Houston, TX; daughter Arwena B. McLean and husband Les of Tallahassee, FL. Daughter, Sondra E. Robertson of Sealy, TX, preceded him in death. He is also survived by a brother, Brig. General Charles Robertson USMC (Ret) and sister, Dede Bagwell. He was a blessed and loving grandfather to Tara Richardson Leibert, Dr. Trent Thomas Richardson, Meredith McLean DaSilva, Leslie Ann McLean Thompson, Cody Patrick Robertson and Shelly Catherine Robertson. He was a great grandfather to Curran, Trevor, Brendan, Gavin and Zoe Leibert, Luke Richardson, Carson and Langley DaSilva and McLean Thompson and had many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held in Pensacola at 1:30 p.m. CST, Thursday, January 28, 2010 at Gadsden Street Methodist Church with Dr. Baxter officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services. The burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Gulf Breeze. Memorial contributions may be made to a desired charity.
