Elaine Jones Patton was born on January 17, 1930 and passed from this earthly life to life everlasting with Jesus on December 16, 2019. Elaine was born to Adelaide Proctor Jones and Stanley E. Jones, Sr. in Knoxville, TN. She was raised in Montgomery, AL where she graduated from Margaret Booth School in 1949, a college preparatory school for girls in Montgomery. She attended the University of Alabama, although her heart was always in Auburn. She was married to George Laurie Johnson of Montgomery for 30 years, and they had three children together. Besides being a dedicated mother and homemaker, Elaine was also a successful realtor and interior designer in Birmingham. Elaine was married to Richard K. “Dick” Patton for 25 years until his death in 2009. She was a long time member of Briarwood Presbyterian Church for over 47 years. Although Birmingham was her home, Elaine spent the last few years of her life at The Beacon in Gulf Breeze, FL. Elaine is preceded in death by her parents Stanley E. Jones, Sr. and Adelaide Proctor Jones; her husband, Richard K. Patton; her sister, Jeanette Jones Lemmon; her brother Stanley E. “Jake” Jones, Jr. Elaine is survived by her daughter Lydia Johnson McCaa of Gulf Breeze, FL, son Jay Johnson (Anne) of Alexander City, AL and son Luke Johnson (Laura) of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren Duke McCaa (Mary) of Gulf Breeze, FL, Addie McCaa Middleton (Dusty) of Gulf Breeze, FL, Jesse McCaa Wireman (Dustin) of Gulf Breeze, FL, Brown Johnson (Katherine) of Augusta, GA, Graham Johnson of Huntsville, AL, Laurie Anne Johnson Gonzalez (Taylor) of Phoenix, AZ, Bo Johnson of Knoxville, TN, Lane Johnson of Knoxville, TN, Ellie Johnson Bartlett (Taylor) of Atlanta, GA; ten great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A family graveside service will be at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL on December 20th with Rev. Mark Cushman officiating. In lieu of flowers, it is the family’s desire for a donation to be made to Samaritan’s Purse, PO Box 3000, Boone NC 28607 or to a charity of your choice.
