His sun rose on December 28, 1925 in Lead, South Dakota and set on September 17, 2013 in Pensacola, Florida. He was 87 years old. Ed spent his early years as a cowboy in the Black Hills of South Dakota, where hunting and fishing were the norm. He joined the US Navy in 1944 and when stationed at NAS Pensacola, met and married the love of his life, Margaret Flowers Pendo. After serving his country for 30 years, Ed divided his time between South Dakota and Florida. He became an active member of Myrtle Grove Baptist Church and the Gideon's International. He was also actively involved with Hadji Shrine Temple Oriental Band, a 32 Degree Mason with Myrtle Grove Lodge #352, and with the Zelica Grotto. Edward was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Margaret E. Pendo. He is survived by his 4 children; Edwina (Jim) Humphrey, Sheril (Odis) Touchstone, Cynthia Pendo, and Ralph (Faith) Pendo along with 8 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank all his Doctors and the ICU nursing staff at Sacred Heart Hospital for their excellent care of our father. Visitation will be at Myrtle Grove Baptist Church on Monday, September 23, 2013 at 10:00 AM with funeral services immediately following. Burial will be at 12:30 PM in Barrancas National Cemetery with full military honors. Pallbearers are John Torrence, Merrill Cutts, Jason Coker, Lowell Cooper, Caleb Mendenhall and Jon Madden. Honorary Pallbearers are John Roselle, Buddy Burkett, Eric Cotton, and Richard Loughry.
