Edna Shirah

Edna Earl Shirah, age 92, of Gulf Breeze, Florida was called to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 31, 2015 following a courageous battle with Alzheimer's. She was born on June 29, 1923 to the late Norman and Lillie McIntosh in Enterprise, Alabama. Edna graduated from Troy State University with a degree in education and taught in Alabama for twelve years prior to moving to Gulf Breeze where she taught at Gulf Breeze Elementary for an additional twenty-six years. She was a very dedicated teacher who loved her students immensely. She is preceded in death by the love of her life, Robert Shirah. Edna is survived by her daughters, Esther Sanders and Dorothy (Paul) Lore, along with her grandchildren, Jennifer (Kerry) Rogers, Paul (Heather) Lore, Kim (Eric) Knudsen, Billy (Kristin) Wheeler and Allison (Travis) Bradley and eight great-grandchildren, Caitlin, Emily, Erika, Caleb, Elijah, Makenna, Skylar and Abigail. A visitation will be held at Rose Lawn Funeral Home on Monday, November 2, 2015 from 5 to 6:00 PM with services immediately following at 6:00 PM. A private burial will be in Rose Lawn Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, to please send a donation to, Emerald Coast Hospice, 1555 North Palafox Street, Pensacola, Florida 32501 for their gracious service.
