Edith Utsey, 75, of Gulf Breeze, Florida, passed away, November 25, 2018.
She was born and raised in Holly Hill, S.C., and graduated from Holly Hill High School. She moved to Gulf Breeze with her husband and three sons in 1981.
Edith was preceded in death by her husband Jerry Don Utsey, her son Jeffery, her parents Reuben and Bertha Hart, sister Lucille Hart, and in-laws Wesley and Ethel Utsey. She is survived by her two sons, Jerry Utsey (Michelle) and Eric Utsey (Tara). She leaves four grandchildren (Meagan, Michael, Ethan, and Sophia Utsey), two sisters (Lorraine Sanford of Lexington, .S.C. and Ruby Bigelow of Colorado), and one brother (Allen Hart of Walterboro, S.C.) and several nieces and nephews.
Her friends and co-workers were delighted by her sassy attitude. She could put up with a lot but could always be counted on to give some back, be it feisty or sweet! You knew where you stood with Edie.
The Santa Rosa County sheriff's deputies loved her weekly deliveries of fresh baked pies and sweets, and she enthusiastically donated to several charities.
Her husband and son were in good hands as she cared for each of them in their time, in their final years of life. She offered support to those in great need, and left the self-sufficient to their own devices, which produced two gentlemen among her sons, who each contribute to the community through public and military service and solid loving families.
A time of visitation will be held at Rose Lawn Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 from 10:30 to 11:30 AM followed a funeral service at 11:30 AM. The funeral procession will depart Rose Lawn at 12:15 PM, to Barrancas National Cemetery, where Edith will be buried next to her husband at 1:00 PM.
Edith would wish for you to donate to your favorite charity in lieu of flowers.
