Dr. James H. Ware, Jr., age 82, passed from this life to Life Eternal on May 25, 2015 in Pensacola, FL. An accomplished scholar and a devoted spouse, family member and friend, Jim lived by Tennyson's challenge to "To Follow Christ the King, Live pure, speak true, right wrong, follow the King. Else, wherefore born?" Born in Shanghai, China to missionary parents, Jim pursued a life-long interest in Chinese language and culture, publishing and teaching in both Asian studies and in Philosophy and Religion at Austin College, Sherman, TX and the University of Central Arkansas. Jim also entered the Christian ministry serving congregations from Deltaville and Fairfax, VA to Sandy Springs, TX, Milton, FL and as Parish Associate, Gulf Breeze Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the Florida Presbytery. He published numerous articles and books including, Heart Sing: Morning Prayers of Praise and Thanksgiving and a personal memoir of China based on letters his mother wrote home from the mission field. Jim is survived by his loving wife Jo Rae, his sister Carolyn Benson and husband Dave, and by his children both by adoption and marriage: David Capper and wife Dianne, Jay Click and wife Mary Boyd, Vicky Jones and husband Casey, Margaret Luplow and husband Gary, Carolyn Olson and husband Mark. Jim's first wife, Emma Holmes Ware died in 2013. A service of Celebration of the Resurrection will take place Thursday, May 28, 2015 at 12:00 PM at Gulf Breeze Presbyterian Church with graveside internment Friday, in Duluth, GA.
