Dorothy Virginia Phillips, 89, of Gulf Breeze, FL passed away October 20, 2009. She was born in Johnstown, PA July 17, 1920 to the late Minnie (Yoder) and Charles Karl. Dorothy "Dot" was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gulf Breeze. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Dwight Phillips in 1993. She is survived by her daughters Jean Ann (Earl) Hershberger of Gulf Breeze, FL, JoAnn (Robert) Cousins of Crestview, FL; a son Clarke (Barbara) Phillips of Raleigh, NC. She was loved and known as Nanny by her family, seven grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church on West Wright Street in Pensacola at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 27, 2009 with Pastor Walter Steele officiating; visitation will be one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Johnstown, PA. Our sincere gratitude to Pastor Walter Steele for the comfort and love given to Nanny and her family. Heartfelt thanks to Covenant Hospice at West Florida Hospital for the compassionate care given to our mother, and the comfort given to her family. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be sent to Covenant Hospice at West Florida in memory of Dorothy. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Rose Lawn Funeral Home of Gulf Breeze.
