Doris Ezell Towns, 94, peacefully passed away at her home in Gulf Breeze, Florida on November 28th. Her service for immediate family will be held Monday, December 11th at 2:30pm at Barrancas Cemetery in Pensacola. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, William S. Towns Jr. (Bill), and her daughter, Diane Towns Walker. She is survived by her son, William S. Towns III (Bill), son-in-law James Edward Walker (Eddie), grandchildren Janet Dawson, James E Walker, Jr. MD.(Jay), Melissa Carter, Jennifer Towns, and William S. Towns IV (Bill), great grandchildren Robert Miller, Lilly and Thomas Carter, Mallory and Riley Walker, Lita and Chloe Towns, great great grandchildren Dennis and Remi Miller.
Doris, one of five children, was born October 8, 1929 to George and Janie Ezell, in Meadville, Mississippi. She graduated from Meadville High School, and married her husband, Bill, upon his return from WWII. Bill and Doris lived in Oxford, MS while Bill attended Ole Miss, earning a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. After numerous work-related moves in their early years, the Towns family finally settled in Gulf Breeze in 1962. Doris was a wife, mother, volunteer, and a member of Gulf Breeze Baptist Church.
After Doris' children left home, she and Bill owned and operated the Army Navy Surplus store in Fort Walton Beach for over 30 years.
