Doris Geneva Ranger, age 77, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., slipped into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013. Gen, as she was known to her family and friends, was born May 11, 1935, in Carnegie, Okla. She moved to and has resided in Fort Walton Beach for the past 40 years following 20 years traveling the U.S. as a loving and devoted military wife. Gen has been an active member of Oakland Baptist Church for the last 14 years. Gen was a talented artist and art instructor who enjoyed oil and acrylic painting, ceramics, arts and crafts, and sewing. Graced with two green thumbs, she spent many hours nurturing her gardens and potted plants. As an avid reader, the walls of her home were lined with bookcases full and running over with collector's copies of the classics, mystery novels, biographies, how-to manuals, and crafting books. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years, Herbert C. Ranger, USAF, retired. She leaves behind their daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Phil Koerber; three granddaughters and their husbands, Cindy and Patrick Boatner, Jennifer and Glen Arne, and Chrissy and Ed Hartley; four great grandchildren, Braiden Koerber, Hayleigh Koerber, Kaylee Arne, and Tyler Arne; and six nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Mick Garner on Monday, Feb. 25, 2013. Friends may join the family for visitation from 2 to 3 p.m. followed by a 3:15 p.m. graveside ceremony at Rose Lawn Funeral Home and Cemetery, 2942 Gulf Breeze Pkwy, Gulf Breeze, FL. Services will conclude with a memorial service at Oakland Baptist Church, 118 Wright Pkwy., Fort Walton Beach, FL, at 5:30 pm. Arrangements entrusted to Rose Lawn Funeral Home of Gulf Breeze.
