Donald McGowan

Donald Charles McGowan, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2025. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, on August 6, 1951, to Charles and Lois McGowan, Graduated Clairton High School in 1969 and was a member of the award winning Clairton High School Band. Don was known for his fun-loving personality and deep appreciation for his Scottish/Irish heritage.

Don spent most of his life in Baton Rouge, LA, where he built a life filled with love and laughter. He later retired to Gulf Breeze, FL, with his wife, Helen(Suzi), where he enjoyed retirement with his loving pets

A passionate musician, Don embraced his heritage by participating in Celtic bands, playing the drums and bagpipes. His love for music was only surpassed by his love for his family and friends.

Don is survived by his wife, Helen(Suzi) McGowan; son, Donald McGowan Jr. (Sharon); stepchildren, Nicole Berggren and Patrick Berggren; sister, Bonnie Templeton (Hugh); nephews, Brian and Glen Templeton; grandchildren, Serena, Olivia, and Bodi McGowan; and countless friends whose lives he touched.

Don will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones and the music he shared.
