Don passed away Saturday, February 9, 2013 in Gulf Breeze after a long illness. He leaves behind his loving wife of 37 years, Donna; daughter Donna Noble (Rick); step daughter Cynthia Norman (Jason); brothers James Halford (Annabelle) and Ed Halford (JoAnn) and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews, also his beloved cats Miss Sweetpea and Miss Cassidy. Don was born in McKenzie, Alabama in 1930 and attended the University of Florida. He joined the Navy for 4 years, allowing him to finish his courses in Electronic Engineering while in the Navy. He played AA baseball for St Louis until he broke his wrist. Don was a motorcycle police officer during the Martin Luther King era in Montgomery, Alabama. He moved to California in the late 1950's, retiring as an Electronic Engineer from the R.B. Clapp Co. then relocated to Gulf Breeze in 1987. Don was an active ham radio operator for 50 years with his call sign as WB6CMX . His golf handicap was an 8 before he became ill and he was an avid Alabama Crimson Tide football fan. He will be greatly missed by his loved ones and friends.
