Dennis Clifton Allen, age 70, of Morgan Hill, CA, was called home May 16, 2021. He was born November 19, 1950, in Laurel, MS to the late Clifton Dewitt and Stella Ruth Price Allen. Dennis Allen is a follower of Jesus Christ, was a longtime member of Olive Baptist Church in Pensacola, FL and a member of Bethel Church of San Jose, CA. He was a teddy bear brought to life and the most loving son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. Dennis was known as a prankster and jokester, a last-minute Disney vacationer, and the professional chauffeur to Jan to antique and fabric stores. Dennis had a 45-year career that ranged from selling computers for IBM, to business ownership, to telecom, to the joy of being business partners with his son, Russ, owning a chain of fitness centers in California. Libby was his "Daddy’s Girl,” his #1 cheerleader, and his fishing partner. He loved golfing and fishing, and it is up for debate as to which sport he was better. Dennis won numerous golf championships, but he also caught Walter - a "double-digit" 15 lb. bass - and released him. Dennis proudly served in the Mississippi National Guard.
He is preceded in death by his parents. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Jan Branch Allen; children, Russ Bradford Allen (Jaime) of Morgan Hill, CA, and Elizabeth Allen Rembert (Jake) of Lake Charles, LA; grandchildren, Camille Rembert of Lake Charles, LA, Caroline Rembert of Lake Charles, LA, Zoe Allen of Morgan Hill, CA, and Catherine Rembert of Lake Charles, LA; sister, Kathy Allen O’Brien (Charlie) of Austin, TX; and a host of extended family and close friends.
Visitation will be from 1:00pm until the funeral service begins at 2:00pm, Friday, May 28, 2021 at Rose Lawn Funeral Home, 2942 Gulf Breeze Parkway, Gulf Breeze, FL 32563. Interment will follow at Rose Lawn Cemetery. Dr. Stan Lewis of the First Baptist Church of Crestview will officiate.
