Chester Lincoln

February 6, 1925 — March 29, 2009

Chester Lincoln, age 84, of Gulf Breeze passed away March 29, 2009. At the age of 17 Chester left school in his home town of Sandy Creek, New York to enlist in the Marines. He served at Guadalcanal with the 1st Marine Division, as a Sergeant was awarded a commendation by Admiral Halsey for disarming a 1,000 bomb. Upon returning home after the war, Chester married his childhood sweetheart, Margaret Snyder, and then worked three jobs to put himself through flight school. He flew for Capital Airlines, and when it merged with United, rose to the rank of Captain. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Margaret, sons Mark & Scott, and five grand children. He was a loving husband and father and will be deeply missed. There will be a time of visitation on Monday, April 6, 2009 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Rose Lawn Funeral Home with a Funeral Service to be conducted there by Pastor Terry Pergl at 11:30 AM. Burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery at 12:30 PM.
