Charles Dan Neese passed away unexpectedly at his home in Gulf Breeze, on March 31, 2021.
He was born in Brewton, Al, and grew up in Warrington, attending Escambia High School and then Pensacola Junior College. Afterward, he served four years in the United States Air Force, including one year in Vietnam. He met his wife of 45 years while working at Trailways bus station.
One day she came in to play pinball. They struck up a conversation; he was such a smooth talker, he quickly won her over with his charm. Danny was a gifted storyteller. At family gatherings, he frequently held his audiences’ attention for hours with his remarkable detail and infectious humor. Danny and his wife loved to travel, across the country and internationally.
His favorite place of all was in the woods, camping in the Great Smokey Mountains of Tennessee, which they did countless times. Their last adventure took them to the Netherlands in 2017. It was a trip of a lifetime that he never stopped talking about.
Danny is survived by his wife, Holly Gibson, his brother, Robert Neese; his sisters-in-law Hope Gibson and Laurie Neese; his nephew Stephen Neese, his wife Megan and their children Ida and Mabel; his niece, Nancy Barbee, her husband Jason Barbee and their children Luke and Abby. A private service was held at Barrancas National Cemetery on April 6.
Danny will be missed by all.
