Charlcie Baggett

BAGGETT 1920-2009 Charlcie Lee Whiddon Baggett, 89, formerly of Shalimar, Florida, passed away November 26, 2009. Charlcie was born in Perry, Florida to Wiley Washington Whiddon and Mae Sheffield. She lived in Perry until leaving to study Nursing at Charity Hospital, Tulane University in New Orleans, LA. She soon married her childhood sweetheart Fred B. Baggett, Lt. Col. Retired and thus began a lifetime of traveling as the wife of a career Air Force officer. Charlcie is predeceased by her beloved husband, Fred, her parents, a brother, Wes Whiddon, a sister, Erschel Downey and by two infant sons, Mark and Greg. She is survived by her daughter Penelope (Penny) Park, Gulf Breeze, FL, her son , Fred W. Baggett (Lyn), Tallahassee and four grandchildren, Richard Park IV of Gulf Breeze, FL, Lisa Park of Loxley, AL, Katherine (Clark) Thornburg of New York City, NY and Rebecca Baggett of Atlanta, GA. Charlcie was a loving mother who stayed at home until her children left for college. She then began working for Vitro Services at Eglin AFB until her retirement. She was well known for her cooking talents. Having moved so many times to so many different locations she developed an outstanding knowledge of the foods of many cultures and its preparartion, much to the everyone's delight. She also loved ballroom dancing and was one of the original patrons at the Fred Astaire studio in Ft. Walton Beach, FL. She entered and won numerous competitions and awards during her years of dancing. Playing Bridge was another activity that she enjoyed and excelled at. Traveling with her friends to countries around the world was one of her greatest pleasures during the latter years of her life. Charlcie will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Graveside services will be held at 10:15 Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at Barrancase National Cemetery in Pensacola. In lieu of flowers, donations may be may to Pensacola Convenant Hospice or a charity of choice. Arrangements entrusted to Rose Lawn Funeral Home of Gulf Breeze.
