In Loving Memory of Carolyn Varner
Carolyn Jean (Mrusek) Varner was born on March 8, 1941 and passed peacefully joining loved ones in heaven on May 13, 2018 at the age of 77.
Carolyn was born in Reading, OH, married her loving husband, Donald Charles Varner (Don), at 19, loved their Navy life and family and together they lived all over the world during their 57 years of marriage. We are grateful for their service to our country.
Carolyn and Don moved to Pensacola in 1977 and built their dream retirement home on East Bay in Gulf Breeze in 1990. They enjoyed many years of sunrises, sunsets, boat rides, celebrations and fish fry's.
She is preceded in death by her parents Frances Langfeld, Ralph Mrusek, Step-Father August Langfeld, Father-in-law Don Varner, Mother-in-laws Adele and Marge Varner, Brother Ralph and Sister-in-law Lora Mrusek, Sister Judy Mrusek and Sister-in-law Betty Varner Lawson.
She leaves behind her devoted husband Don, daughter Cindi Varner Crane (Steve) of Dataw Island, SC, son Don Varner (Lizette) of Hollywood, MD, her grandchildren Noah and Hannah Varner, Grandson Alex Crane (Ginny) of Woodstock, GA, Great Grandchildren Jenevieve and Corbin Crane, sister Kathy Deye (Bob) of Naples, FL, brothers Terry Mrusek (Lisa) of Reading, OH, Greg Mrusek (Kathy) of Lebenon, OH, Brothers-in-Law Mike Varner (Terri) of Pensacola, FL, Rodney Varner (Gail) of Mason, OH and many cousins, nieces, nephews and other family members.
She was a devoted member of Saint Sylvester Catholic Church, Navarre.
Carolyn is known for her sweet smile, infectious laugh, beautiful brown eyes, amazing international cooking skills and her ability to hand make almost anything. She was incredibly detail oriented and made over 50 quilts, wedding dresses, stained glass windows and lamps, pillows, upholstery, window treatments and hundreds of other projects - made from her heart and enduring love of family and friends. She leaves behind her legacy of wrapping the world in love - one quilt at a time.
A time of visitation will be held at Rose Lawn Funeral Home, Gulf Breeze on Thursday, May 17, 2018 from 11:30 to 12:30 PM until the funeral service begins at 12:30 PM. Departure from Rose Lawn will be at 1:15 PM, going to Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola for the committal service at 2:00 PM.
The family would like to thank the selfless members and care givers of Saint Sylvester Catholic Church, The Beacon, Gulf Breeze Baptist Hospital, Sacred Heart Covenant Care and Rose Lawn Funeral Home.
