Carolyn Louise (Corky) Lynch died Sunday, June 4, 2017. She was 90 years old. Corky lived in the Pensacola area since 1973. She was born in Youngstown, Ohio October 9, 1926 - the third child of Michael and Nellie Campbell.
In August 1947 Corky married Arthur (Art) Lynch. Together they launched their life of happily-ever-aftering, sharing successes and failures, while learning, laughing and mostly loving. They raised a family of seven children, and their family raised them - sharing their successes, failures, love and laugher.
Meanwhile Corky was active outside her family. In 1961 she was a candidate for Mrs. Ohio in the Mrs. America contest; she was voted Mrs. Congeniality by her fellow contestants. She sang in a choral group, acted in a community theatre organization, and was active in Gulf Island Neighbors and Welcome Wagon in which she was president for one year; she was active in Gulf Breeze Hospital Auxiliary for 15 years and president for one year. Corky always maintained she was just an ordinary person; but she did ordinary things in an extraordinary way.
When word spread that Corky died, messages of love and admiration flashed through texts, emails and Facebook. Those words of people who knew Corky are eloquent testimonies of what Corky Lynch was like. They wrote: She was: "elegant, gracious, loving, amazing". The most frequent comments were "classy lady, role model, wonderful"…Corky Lynch will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great and great-great grandmother, friend and neighbor.
Corky was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Nellie Campbell, her brothers Vincent and Herbert Campbell, and her son Robert Lynch. She is survived by her husband Arthur, their sons Michael (Beverly) of Granville, Ohio, Richard (Karen) and Brian of Gulf Breeze, and Kevin (Andrea) of Redondo Beach, California; their daughters Karin Lynch of Gulf Breeze and Susan (Ray) Simmons of Golden Oak, Florida., 15 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
The family thanks Sharon Dogul, Mo Masoud, Cathy Zaleske and Fonda Chambers Stokes, the caregivers who shared their love and compassion with Corky for the past three years
