Carolyn W. Bennett, age 76, passed away on October 22, 2012. Carolyn was born on March 14, 1936 in Macon, Georgia and was the daughter of Robert and Mary Ella Whitehead. Carolyn attended Miller High for Girls and graduated in 1952. Following graduation, she worked at Warner-Robins AFB where she met, Harlie, the love of her life and husband of 56 years. They relocated to Charleston, West Virginia where children, Cindy and Vic were born. Seven years later, the family relocated to Pensacola Beach and began a 50 year love affair with the beach and Gulf Breeze. Carolyn worked for Children's Home Society of Florida and United Way of Escambia County. Following her retirement, she followed a lifelong dream of performing and joined the Dancing Grannies. Carolyn had a heart of gold and volunteered for many organizations such as Gulf Breeze Hospital Auxiliary, Interfaith Ministries, and the Supervisor of Elections. Carolyn was recognized by the City of Gulf Breeze by being named a "Community Difference Maker." Carolyn found her church home at Gulf Breeze Presbyterian Church where she was a faithful choir member for nearly 50 years. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers and a sister and is survived by her brother, Kenneth Whitehead. She is survived by her husband, Harlie Bennett, daughter, Cindy Bennett, son, Vic Bennett (Kirsten), grandchildren, Rachael Wood, Josh Wood, Ana Bennett and Niels Bennett as well as two great grandchildren, Dylan Wood and Skyler Dellisanti. Carolyn was a much loved wife, mom and Mimi. The family is grateful to Nurse Shawn in the PCU at Baptist Hospital Pensacola and Covenant Hospice for the wonderful care she received. A memorial service and celebration of Carolyn's life will be held at Gulf Breeze Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, October 30th at 3:00 p.m.
