Carolee Comstock

Carolee Dorothy Comstock, 85, of Gulf Breeze, Florida passed away August 9, 2024 at her home. She was born October 19, 1938 in Ocala, Florida to the late Stanley Rumsey and Eleanor Fitler. Carolee grew up and attended high school in the Ocala, Florida area. She moved to Ithaca, New York where her mother was from and met and married John Brooks Comstock. They moved to nearby Newfield, New York, where they raised their daughters Audrey and Linda. Carolee worked in various jobs while she and her husband raised her children, followed by a lengthy job in Cornell University Library after her children were grown. Carolee and her husband retired and moved to the Gulf Breeze, Florida area in the mid-90’s after spending 2 years traveling in their RV.

Carolee and her husband enjoyed the outdoors and spent many hours in their yard. They also were responsible for organizing the rural neighborhood they lived in to build out a playground/park/ball field (Cypress Tree Park in Midway) for the neighborhood children to enjoy.

Carolee was a devoted church member during her time in Gulf Breeze, serving as the Treasurer and holding other board positions for the Unity of Gulf Breeze Church over many years. She was also an avid animal lover and adopted and cared for many cats that wandered into her neighborhood.

Carolee is preceded in death by her husband, John B. Comstock and a grandson, Ryan C. Parker. She is survived by daughter, Audrey C. Parker and her son-in-law William (Bill) Parker of Navarre; grandsons, Charlie Parker, daughter-in-law, Lauren Parker; great grandsons, Benson Milam and Jackson Milam; great granddaughter, Anna-Grace Parker of Adairsville, GA; daughter, Linda C. Pollock, son-in-law, Stan Pollock and grandson, Shane Lewis, all of Gulf Breeze.
